How the count works
We count every day from the start date to the end date, both included, then take out the weekend days and any public holidays that fall on working days. Use the second box to find the date that is a number of working days after the start date, for example a deadline of 10 working days.
Weekends in the region
Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain rest on Friday and Saturday. The UAE government moved to Saturday and Sunday in 2022, with a half day on Friday, and many private companies followed. Some jobs have only a one-day weekend.
Holidays included
Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha (with Arafah Day where it is a holiday), the Hijri New Year, the Prophet's birthday and the Isra and Mi'raj where they are official, plus each country's national days. Islamic dates come from the Umm al-Qura calendar and can move by a day after the moon sighting. Companies may give extra days.
Frequently asked questions
Are the start and end dates counted?
Yes, both are included if they are working days.
Why does the Eid holiday differ from my company's?
Private-sector holidays can be shorter than government ones, and the exact dates depend on the moon sighting. Use the result as a guide.
Can I count without holidays?
Yes. Choose None under public holidays to count only weekends.
